Blackheath hosted Bickley Park 3s at Queen Marys on Saturday and promptly won the toss and elected to bat. Joe Kerridge & Joe Ryan established a solid start before Kerridge was bowled by Hewitt with the score on 53. Ryan and Purdey then pressed on before Purdey needlessly ran himself out on 10 with the score at 92. Ryan was batting beautifully justifying his return to the 3s from a week in the 4s! Disaster struck for Blackheath at 35 overs with the score at 135 when persistent rain became heavier and an…

Blackheath stayed in the hunt with a hard fought 20 pointer against fourth placed Bromley Town to stay within sight of the promotion slots. Asked to bat by Bromley Town, Blackheath started terribly again with an extraordinarily tight first 10 overs which yielded just 4 runs but importantly 2 wickets (Purdey & Willetts). Fleming & Turner stuck in though and batted superbly to get the innings back on track. Simon Martin & Jamie Martin finished off in style in the last 15 overs with 47 not out each of two. The second time…

We travelled to Cobdown in good spirits. Joe Ryan and Steve Turner re-united. A debut for fellow Northerner Duncan Willetts and a chance to see Matt Gill before his four month / permanent retirement following his wedding!!
With a bowling line up of Ahmed, Brassington, Rashid and Carter Blackheath would be sure of some straight bowling to test the best batters in the league. And so it was to be .. 4 bowled, 2 LBWs, and 2 caught behinds supported that. Young Mark Murray played very well for his 76, surviving a perilously close LBW shout early doors. While Shan…

Blackheath won the toss and elected to bat vs a Bromley Town side that was in the top 3 in the table. Fleming & Purdey got off to a solid start after some tight bowling from Goodyear and Betts. Purdey was dismissed for 61 at 93/1 before drinks. Richard Fleming then batted very well to continue on to a score of 64 being dismissed when the score was four down. Wickets then fell at regular intervals with good contributions from Sachin Kolathai with 24 and Ifti with a quick 12 in the lower order. Batting their full 50 overs, the…

Blackheath hosted Chislehurst on a hard and bouncy barracks wicket. Blackheath imploded from the start with wickets falling at regular intervals. A combination of overly rash stroke making and tight Chislehurst bowling saw Blackheath struggle to 98 for 5 before losing the last 5 wickets for no more than 5 runs.
Two early wickets gave Blackheath hope having Chislehurst at 23/2 with both openers back in the shed, however, a very good partnership between Tohill and Philpot saw Chislehurst home.
Blackheath with much much to improve!
