Blackheath won the toss and elected to bat vs a Bromley Town side that was in the top 3 in the table. Fleming & Purdey got off to a solid start after some tight bowling from Goodyear and Betts. Purdey was dismissed for 61 at 93/1 before drinks. Richard Fleming then batted very well to continue on to a score of 64 being dismissed when the score was four down. Wickets then fell at regular intervals with good contributions from Sachin Kolathai with 24 and Ifti with a quick 12 in the lower order. Batting their full 50 overs, the 3s got to 203.
In reply Bromley Town started badly with Ferrier gone to a smart catch by Shep behind the stumps before steadying nicely courtesy of Dicker & Goodyear. Goodyear’s dismissal though started a little run of wickets pre drinks and with Simon Jones unable to bat through injury, Town lose their last 8 wickets for 54 runs. For Blackheath, Saqib Hussain was the pick of the bowlers with 5/37 bowling terrific off spin while Mamanur (1/11 from 7) and Will Wyatt (2/10 from 7) also took wickets and kept the pressure on.
Key game next week vs 2nd placed Nonington for Blackheath.
