Written by a guest
4th XI defeat league leaders Upchurch Upchurch 150/9 (50 overs) Luke Whiley 15-6-19-2 Predrag Basic 13-2-34-2 Sachin Kolathai 3/24 Blackheath 151/5 (47 overs) Sachin Kolathai 47no Mitu Ahmed 40 Vic Kandampully 30 Having travelled to Upchurch without an umpire, Blackheath forfeited the toss and were sent out to field by Upchurch captain Neil Fairclough. Despite choosing to bat, Upchurch struggled to make headway in the face of superbly tight bowling from Luke Whiley, and nagging swing from Predrag Basic, backed up by some committed fielding; which was epitomised by one spectacular stop from Jason Lambie. Match Report: 4XI v Tenterden

Written by Ben Woodside
Blackheath 4XI v Tenterden 2XI, 22nd May 2010   The first cricket weather of the season brought the 4s their first win of the season, thanks to an astonishing bowling spell from Ifthakar Ahmed.     Tenterden appeared confident after winning the toss and putting us in on a wicket which looked to have plenty for the bowlers.  But their confidence took an early knock as Umer, true to form, took 15 off the first over.  After racing to 35, Umer foolishly attempted an extravagant forward defensive shot and was bowled.  Building on the rapid start, Terry Stark and Neil…

Match report: 4XI v Orpington

Written by Ben Woodside
Blackheath 4XI v Orpington 2XI, 8 May 2010 When Blackheath finally got back into the pavillion to defrost their hands at 8.15pm after 54 overs in the field, they had made a positive if frustating start to their first season in division 2. After being put into bat on a freezing, wet day, a stop-start innings anchored by the ever-reliable Neil Barnes (67*) produced a respectable total of 185.  A lack of pre-season practice for Umer Mian was evident as he took until the 3rd ball of the day to hit his first boundary.  But by the end of the…
