Roundup - 11th June

Written by Jon Taylor

Are you available for cricket this week ?

Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th

This Sunday we have a pitch and an opposition.

As well as Sunday league and development league game

Do you want a game -- let me know.

This weekend.

The weather played havoc.

The pitches were soft & drying & under prepared.

And games were washed out.

Perhaps we should start playing in March - at least it was dry

1s.

Lost to Lordswood.

An innings of  attrition on a slow deck to 188.

Zobie Sharif battled to 50, Warren Lee & Dipyan Paul picked up the last 10 overs

Lordswood started well, but faltered. 3 wickets from Hands and Sharif reigned them in.

However, with two overs to go, Lordswood reached the target with 8 wickets down.

2s.

Will Hickman 75 & Jack Ford were the pick of the bunch. 228.

A decent total that Lordswood got nowhere near. Despite 4 Wyatt wickets, Blackheath could not winkle them out.

3s.

150 miles into Kent - so far, that the sat nav was out of range.

114-5 after 33 overs and only Hamish Purdey (53*) thought it worth not chipping an easy catch, with a view to sitting in the pavilion rather than actually playing cricket. Purdey preferred hitting 11 fours, mainly over extra cover.

Then the rain came. And under the covers it seeped. Game over.

4s.

No game as it was a bye weekend.

5s.

To Bexley.

Won toss - put them in on drying wicket, as planned.

Bowl them out for 138 in 37 overs, as planned.

Then, we diverted from the plan. 96-9 in 32 overs.

Only 3 people in double figures.

However, 8 players summed up Hydrus.

And that was the end of the game.

6s.

Shock, Horror.

Lost by one wicket - to a well organised Pembury team.

James Crutcher's 68 was the pick.

The opposition ground out the runs .. 9 down in the last over.

Good game of cricket - wrong result.

7s.

Nice weather for ducks - as they say.

We took that too literally at the Park.

8 ducks later, and not a spoon of plum sauce in sight.

It was all over 5pm.

8s.

Win.

Jon Neal was this week's centurion.

112 runs at powerleague is akin to 200 anywhere else.

Very well supported by Shahed Ali 56 & a hamstrung Jamie Yorke.

249-5 from 40 overs.

In reply Old Brocks stuttered after drinks - the ducks made a welcome appearance en-route from 7s game at greenwich park.

6 ducks later. Blackheath win

9s.

The juggernaut crashes.

207 - 7 plays 113 ao.

Sunday .. all washed out.
