Morning All,
Sunshine and cricket at last - though it was a bit cold in the shade !
We had wins for the 1s, 2s, 8s and Sunday 2s
Came a close second in the 3s and 6s
And a few furlongs back in the 4s, 5s and 7s
The 1s on Saturday has a comprehensive winning draw at Lordswood.
236-5 v 149-7
A league debut 105 for Craig Wood, and league debut 82 for Faisal Shahid
25 for Mohammad Ashraful topped off a good day for the new starters
The oppo never got going, 3-1, 6-2, 11-3, 38-4, 54-5, 54-6 ...
with only Matt Greenwood and Amjad Khan staying around.
Wickets shared around.
On Sunday the 1s beat East Grinstead in the 1st round of the National
On a damp wicket, no one really built a big innings, and it was down to a grafting 35 from Chris Willetts to get the score to 185-9 (45 overs)
Which was always enough. 3 wickets from Mehdi Abbas and miserly bowling from Jahid Ahmed (9-4-17-0) did the job, as EG crawled to 143.
The 2s smashed Lordswood
172-7 vs 164 ao
50's from Tom Slater and Richard Fleming were the highlight
And 2 Akbari 6's in his 19 runs
Wickets shared around
The 3s lost to Chislehurst & WK 1s in a close game
Struggling on a drying wicket and outfield, Carter (23) and Mahoney (28*) got the total through 125
The oppo had two patient batters who stuck it out while others collapsed.
As the ground dried the runs became a little easier, as they crept nervously over the line with an over to spare
Tight accurate bowling from Ainsworth (3), Martin, Ahmed & Mahoney (3)
The 4s had a day best put in the circular filing cabinet
Bad toss to lose ... wet and soft wicket.
Good start Rob Wickes with 26, otherwise ...
Back to the Club for an early drink
The 5s came unstuck at Lee Green
Early season blues and a couple of important no-shows left the team under powered
Ex. test player Martin McCague hit the winning runs
The 6s picked up maximum bonus points after missing the win by 9 runs.
133ao vs 126 ao
A great 60 from Habib Ali - Chowdhury was the highlight of the day
The 7s came in second at Bromley Common 3s
The 8s won against Catford & Cyphers 4s ... 125-9 vs 95 ao
The pick of the batters were Billy Crone, Cain Duncan and Calem Curreen
The wickets were shared by all .. including 2 for birthday boy James "Tesco" Morrison
The Sunday 2s beat The Arcadian Causals ..
with stand in captain Alex Price scoring 47.
So overall a mixed weekend.
This week we have games against
Bromley, Bromley, Deal, Folkestone, Westgate, Lessa, Hayes
TWells in the Cup and Roan & Lambethans
Watch out for the weather -- it's cold this morning and rain is due
We're aiming for nets at Blackheath on Wednesday .. from 6pm
Hope you enjoyed your cricket at the weekend -- let me know if you didn't
And let me know, by reply if you are available or unavailable for selection this week
