Andy Spry produced one of the most brutal innings the Rectory will see for a long while to help the Sunday 2s to a comfortable victory over Dulwich this Sunday. His 152 included over a century in boundaries, with 8 sixes, as he took full advantage of a bouncy track with some huge hitting off the back foot. For the visitors, Biswad bowled a tidy spell but the other bowlers couldn't stop the flow of runs. Andy was well supported by Simon Hudd (44) in a century stand and Will May played a nice cameo at the death to take Blackheath to 288 off their 40 overs.
Andy Watts then took a wicket in the first over and with Macca swinging the ball all over the place, Dulwich were soon way behind the required run rate. Wickets were hard to come by though Simon Wright tempted opener Mahey (53) into a swing and an edge, and Spry continued a fine afternoon with 3 wickets (although he did give Dulwich a few sixes back in the process!). Rumen grabbed 2 wickets at the end including Khan, who made 63, as Dulwich finished 8 down but 70 short of the target.
It's not very often 500 runs are scored at the Rectory in an afternoon, so a good afternoon's entertainment for all. Next week is our first league game and we'll be hoping to keep our good run of form going away to OD CUACO.
